APIC has three (3) panels.

The APIC Text Online (ATO) Clinical Editors advise APIC’s Practice Resources department staff on those chapters or topics of the ATO that need to be revised or newly drafted due to changes in regulations, guidelines, policies, definitions, and/or new research findings. The group identifies chapters and other ATO content where updates are needed based on relevance to practice and consequences to direct care, and prioritizes the research/development of those updates; recommends development of new chapters or chapters that need to be deleted; establishes and maintains a framework for periodic and planned ATO chapter review; identifies and approves reviewers, authors, and peer reviewers; approves content outline, and reviews revised/new content; helps resolve content questions with authors of revised/new ATO content; and develops and revises as needed ATO content policy, procedures, and future direction.

The Practice Resources Editorial Panel (PREP) advises APIC’s Practice Resources department staff on product development (primarily publications) by reviewing proposed product concepts and confirming they correspond to audience needs by topic, format, and competency level (e.g., novice). The panel also proposes ideas for new or revised products as needed to ensure that APIC’s practice resources remain relevant resources for members. The panel identifies new or revised practice resources that are relevant to practice and affect consequences to direct care for infection preventionists; reviews product proposals from APIC staff; reviews product formats and timelines and make recommendations; assists with identifying authors and peer reviewers; and advises on future direction, and on policy and procedures as needed.

The Prevention Strategist Editorial Panel consists of 10-12 APIC members from various practice settings and educational backgrounds. They help plan content for future editions, identify the best authors for various topics, write articles (as needed), ensure content is in line with APIC’s strategic goals, and review content for clinical accuracy.
